Tales from a Technology Lover

When I was growing up, my parents believed in doing things the "old fashioned" way and didn't embrace technology. We didn't have a computer, television, or even microwave in our home! When I got a job and moved out, I was excited to stock my apartment with all of the technology I missed out on when growing up. Now that I have a computer and internet in my home, I love researching the latest technological innovations and finding out about the new "gadgets" out there. I have always wanted to start a blog, so I thought I would make my first one about my passion -- technology! I hope you come back often to read my posts all about technology!

3 Benefits Of A Traditional Business Telephone System Vs. VoIP

If you have been doing your research about telephone systems for business, then you might have come across a lot of advice that tells you to choose a VoIP system, which uses your internet connection to help you communicate with clients, business partners and anyone else who you might use your business phone system for. Even though these systems do have their benefits, you may find that a traditional business telephone system is a much better choice for your business. These are a few potential reasons why.

1. Use Your Telephone When the Internet Does Not Work

If you find yourself dealing with an internet outage within your place of business, the last thing that you probably want to deal with is not having a working telephone, either. However, this is exactly what you might find yourself dealing with if you rely on a VoIP phone system. If you'd like to improve reliability to ensure that your phone system is always up and running, opting for a traditional phone system and having the necessary cabling installed by a professional can be a good way to do so.

2. Avoid Internet Speed Issues

Even if you are not necessarily concerned about your business internet connection going down, you should be aware that there can be some speed-related issues that can go along with VoIP systems. If your internet isn't fast enough, you might have trouble using your phone system, especially if you have multiple lines. You might also find that when you are using your internet service to make all of your phone calls that you won't be getting the same internet speeds on your work computers. By using a traditional phone line for business calls, however, you can avoid these internet-related speed issues.

3. Calls Can Be Easily Traced

If you want to ensure that calls can be easily traced back to your place of business, such as if there is an emergency and someone within the building calls the emergency line for help, then a traditional line can be a better choice. This is because a VoIP phone line can be much more difficult to track, which could get in the way of help getting there quickly in the event that something does happen.

As you can see, there are a few different reasons why you may want to choose a traditional telephone system for your business rather than going with a VoIP option. If you talk to a company like First Choice Cabling, you can find out more about the benefits and can sign up to have a business phone line installed within your building.
